Frugal Tip - Make Your Own Laundry Detergent
>> Thursday, February 18, 2010
I love using homemade laundry detergent. I don't use it exclusively, as I still buy detergent when it's free or very cheap, but I do love this recipe as a very low cost alternative to buying detergent.
1/2 cup Washing Soda (not baking soda)
1/2 cup Borax
1 bar of laundry soap, like Fells Naptha
Finely grate the bar soap to a powder (I put mine in a food processor) and mix the powdered bar soap with the washing soda and borax.
Store in an airtight container. Use just 1 tablespoon per load.
